AN ART SUPPLY DRIVE FOR ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS
As public schools continue to cut arts programs to tighten their budgets, more families are seeking the YMCA for the art-enrichment activities their children are missing in the classroom. To help us keep up with the increasing demand for our arts and humanities programs, we’re hosting our second annual I Heart Art event - a drive to collect art supplies for enrichment activities for kids.
I Heart Art is an event everyone can participate in to help spread our organization’s spirit of “members helping members”. During I Heart Art, collection bins will be set-up in all branches, the duPont YMCA Campus, the Yulee Kids Campus, and certain summer camp sites. We will be requesting donations of new, packaged art supplies, such as markers, crayons, colored pencils, pencils, glue sticks, construction paper, water color paints, paint brushes, tape, safety scissors, etc.
The drive will last two weeks beginning Monday, August 9, 2010. The final day for drop-offs will be Sunday, August 22, 2010. All bins will be collected the morning of Monday, August 23, 2010 for an official counting before being distributed to as many YMCA afterschool and outreach locations as possible.
